I like “Thanks, I hate it!” as a reaction because it acknowledges that while you said or did something horrifying, you were clearly making some kind of effort and that should be appreciated. It’s acknowledging that someone put real effort into baking the pie that they then hit you in the face with, and it is truly the kindest and most Millennial of memes.
