ive been listening to sea shanties for Weeks for dnd related reasons and i just realized that an IPRE pirate au would be absolutely fantastic

hope you don’t mind but this spawned some Ideas:

• pirate ship rolls into port and passers-by are trying to figure out who the captain is – of course it’s the large, aggressive man with an axe (on a ship???) or it must be the incredibly flamboyant elf???? NOPE it’s the tiny distinguished looking gnome
• stories are told about the starblaster’s brave captain and near supernatural ability to get through any storm unscathed
• cook taako, ship’s carpenter magnus, quartermaster lucretia, terrible terrible surgeon merle
• lup responsible for gunnery would be a sight to behold.
• how ridiculously in line with a piratical curse is a crew forced to relive every year and face darkness in search of a powerful treasure 
• ango is a stowaway who read about pirate adventures in books and they sounded great but surprise it’s not quite like that in real life
• john is a privateer looking for the treasure and also some bounties while he’s at it. No ill will against the starblaster, it’s Just Business.
