and in lieu of making that post longer, im making a new post to say, Holy Shit

ok ok ok listen. consider this. magnus isnt a traditional warlock, because generally you can’t have a deal with a patron without knowing. and unlike gods, theres a lower chance of That Same Being existing in every single plane, and that same being wanting to make a deal every single time, etc etc.

BUT.

consider this absurdity: magnus could be a warlock of something that isn’t a living entity, not exactly. he’s a warlock of the starblaster, and more specifically, of the bonds it empowers. and he honed that power over the course of the stolen century.

everyone else was improving their magic power, and their brains didn’t reset at the end of each cycle. but magnus’s body did! sure, he kept some muscle memory, but it’s not like a non-magical human could just learn to surpass physical human limitations, no matter how many decades he had to do it. and especially with any special workouts/muscle honing he did getting erased each year.

but magnus did! and it was slow, so they barely noticed until they saw him challenge some plane’s Best Fighter, a formidable foe, and surpass their (human-like) stamina by a mile. sure, he was strong when he joined the mission, but not that strong. and this is early in the year, he hasn’t even worked out that much, and nobody’s buffing him, what the fuck?? he was trained, but he’s a human, too!!

and you know–they all draw power from bonds, in a sense! when magnus and merle and taako were all together, they all suddenly gained more skill in their professions than they’d been able to develop in 10 years. over the course of just a year or so! that’s bond power, baby
