Basically it’s like that bug that would crash iPhones a while back; the person messages you a character that can’t be read by the system, which crashes your console. Warning to all my fellow PS4 users! This is a real threat! 

EDIT: Looks like you don’t have to do a factory reset to fix it, just a database rebuild. Here’s the stickied reddit post on r/ps4 that has the solution step by step! Spread the word!

EDIT 2: Beware of random friend requests for the time being, as there is a message section where people can input the malicious text.
