The funniest thing in any type of science fiction or fantasy media is the characters having to go through a shitload of redtape and bureaucracy. Nothing is fucking funnier to me than a Wizard standing in line to get a fucking piece of paper that allows him to cast a fireball within the confines of a city. Or like some sort of horrific Geiger-esque alien waiting patiently at a DMV or equivalent and casually browsing some magazines. The absolute best is a montage of the characters going from office to office and given the run around. I live for that shit.
That’s why I love The Hitchhikers Guide so much, the entire book series is just redtape with a bit of story.
Irony being he’s got the literal president of the universe on his side and still nothing gets done. That’s just fucken politics for you.
